If you’ve made up your mind for a new natural latex mattress, then know that you might have just gifted great sleep to yourself and your family for long. Latex mattress feel luxurious because of its unrivaled comfort and supreme support. It’s thick and plush surface ensures that it relieves pressure no sooner you lie on it. Having said that, it is also important to note few of the issues which we get to hear from few of the latex mattress owners. This will let you decide whether to invest in it or not.

Latex Mattress

Below mentioned are the most common complaints about latex mattress for the year:

1. Weight

Latex foam is naturally thick and denser than any other foam. When compared with memory foam mattress or poly mattress, it’s quite heavy and difficult to lift. This cannot be an issues unless you’re a frequent mover. This is a problem only when you receive it for the first time and make it reach to your bed.

2. Cost

Of course, the price of a latex mattress comes as a major complaint. The reason behind is pretty simple and understandable. It takes time to craft a latex mattress and involves a lot of man-power. Both natural and synthetic latex are a bit high in cost compared to their competitors since it is not a quick product.

3. Off-gassing

A chemical odor which emits from a mattress (usually chemical mattress) when it’s unpacked for the first time. The reason behind is because of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) leaking from the mattress. This is mostly the case with memory foam mattress. If in case a latex mattress does off-gassing, know that it’s synthetic latex.

4. Bounce

This feature comes with both advantages and disadvantages. While some might love this bouncy feature, many would find it uncomfortable. This bounciness helps a latex mattress return back to its shape in no time unlike memory foam mattress. If you have been using a memory foam mattress or poly foam mattress so far, it would be a little difficult for you to adjust with a latex mattress initially. Therefore, make sure before getting a latex mattress that you want this kind of responsiveness while trying to sleep.

5. Motion Transfer

This is the least issue which is reported. Motion transfer in a latex bed is an unlikely factor, but it’s possible only when the sleeper is quite a light sleeper or remains awake for the most part. Latex mattress is built in a way which locks motion and doesn’t allow it to spread to the other side of the bed.

People who are used to sleeping in a memory foam mattress, would also find that there are instances of motion transfer. This is because memory foam creates a sinking effect, thereby locking motion better than latex mattress. But again, this should only be a problem with scanty sleepers.

Given the above issues, is it normal that few customers could find it difficult to comply with a latex mattress. But it needs to be kept in mind that these are the most common issues and is very much negligible. Rest assured that a latex mattress comes with a life-long sound sleep and great sleep health.
